Lake Austin Homes Rank As Most Expensive In United States
AUSTIN, Texas — Waterfront homes are some of the most highly sought-after real estate on the planet, and Austin is no exception.
Lake Austin is a constant level lake that begins at the Tom Miller dam and spans 21 miles upstream to the Mansfield Dam at Lake Travis.
Homeowners enjoy the serenity of the lake just minutes from the heart of downtown. Lake Austin waterfront homes vary from lock-and-leave condominiums to sprawling estates, with a handful of waterfront communities like St Tropez and West Rim that offer lake access and boat marinas.
Main body waterfront home values have skyrocketed over the past few years, and now sell for a premium from $4 million up to $24 million. Waterfront condominiums near the Penny backer bridge start at $2.2 million.
There are currently about 28 Lake Austin waterfront homes for sale.
If you don’t live on the lake, but want a place to enjoy the view, there are several top restaurants on the water.
The two most notable are Hula Hut and The Oasis. Hula Hut on Lake Austin serves TexMex with a Polynesian twist. By land, you can get there from Lake Austin Boulevard and by boat, you can dock at the restaurant near Tom Miller Dam.
It’s free to dock and they even offer boatside delivery service.
If you’re looking for breathtaking views of Lake Travis, The Oasis is your spot. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a margarita and Mexican prepared dishes, while enjoying the Austin sunset. Located in the hill country off 620, the place is massive and most of the dining is open air.
Those are the two most known spots on the lakes, but there are plenty more. From County Line BBQ to floating restaurants, the Gnarly Gar and Sundancer Grill, there is something for everyone on the water.
