    March 4, 2022 /

A new report from the Texas Realtors showed the statewide real estate market in 2021 was hot, but the Austin-Round Rock market was even hotter. While statewide median home prices jumped 15.7% from 2020 to $300,000, the report said median home prices in Austin-Round Rock shot up nearly 31% to $450,000 since 2020. Since 2018, median home prices have climbed $145,000 — meaning the median home price just four years ago was $305,000. January 15, 2022 /

he population of Leander soared 123 percent from 2010 to 2020, and the growth shows no signs of letting up. A new report from residential real estate platform Opendoor provides further evidence of the continued popularity of the Williamson County suburb. Leander’s 78641 ZIP code ranks second on Opendoor’s new list of the country’s 10 most popular ZIP codes for homebuyers. To develop the list, Opendoor analyzed home sales in 2021 in the more than 40 markets where it operates brokerages. Chris Westrom, Opendoor’s senior general manager in Austin, says Leander benefits from the population and job growth occurring throughout the metro area. “Leander … offers residents a smaller-town charm while only being about…

    July 26, 2021 /

In the weird and wonderful spirit of Austin, let it be known the best way to motivate 5K runners is to end the race with brunch. That’s just part of what’s on the menu for this year’s Keep Austin Weird events, which are returning to live, in-person weirdness following a pandemic-forced virtual celebration in 2020. Taking place Sunday, September 5, the newly dubbed Keep Austin Weird Live — a series of experiential events and activations inspired by the Capital City’s long-held mantra — gets up and running with the third annual 5.12K Run to Brunch and culminates with a brand new Labor Day weekend concert at Fair Market. Beware, home buyers: A record number of homes are selling above their asking price

    March 27, 2021 /

This year’s spring home-buying season is set to be one of the most competitive ever, as the pandemic continues to stoke interest in homeownership. And home prices are skyrocketing as a result. A new report from real-estate brokerage Redfin RDFN, -0.22% found that 39% of homes sold above their listing price during the four-week period ending March 21, an all-time high. That figure is 15 percentage points higher than during the same stretch of time a year ago. The median home-sale price was $331,590, Redfin reported, which represented a 16% increase from a year ago. Researchers noted, though, that the year-over-year comparisons may be skewed by the fact that around a year ago, states were…

7 things to know in Austin food right now

    January 12, 2021 /

The city’s most Instagramable Mexican eatery, Gabriela’s Downtown, is planning a South Austin expansion. Founded by siblings and Michoacán natives Gabby and Arturo Bucio, Gabriela’s Downtown opened in early 2018 and has since garnered a great deal of social media attention for its DJ-scored brunches, house-made choriquesos, and hearty mole enchiladas (and who could forget their colorful array of alcoholic options including fruity margarita flights and chamoy-rimmed Modelos). A baby-blue banner announcing the Bucio family’s expansion currently hangs over Gabriela’s forthcoming south location at 9600 S. IH-35, Unit B-500, which is on track to open in spring/summer. A restaurant/bar hybrid is shooting onto South Congress. White Tiger is the brainchild of notorious restaurateur…
